Cam Waters’ passion project, a 1974 Ford Falcon XB Coupe, has finally been unveiled in Melbourne.

The Tickford Racing driver will make his second NASCAR Truck Series start this weekend. However, while preparing for his race Stateside, Waters has had a big box ticked in Melbourne, with the covers taken off the XB Coupe.

Waters first purchased the car in 2018 from friend and sponsor, Colin McQuinn. The project has been overseen by Rides by Kam, which is owned by Rob Zahabi.

A Supercar-based engine, at 745hp at 6800rpm yielded from 369 cubic inches of small-block Ford, has been fitted into the Aussie two-door body.

The engine build was undertaken by former Tickford engineer Jon Grove.

The Ford, complete with a striking amethyst metallic purple finish, was unveiled on Saturday at Meguiar’s MotorEx at the Melbourne Showgrounds.

There, Waters’ own Monster Energy Ford Mustang Gen3 Supercar sat alongside the Coupe.

“Unveiled! So happy to finally pull the covers off my '74 XB Coupe, now finished in amethyst metallic purple,” Waters posted to social media.

"What a massive journey it's been to get to this point, a massive thank you to everyone that's played a part in getting the car to this point, and especially Rob [Zahabi, owner] and the entire Rides By Kam team."

There was a particular Supercars flavour at MotorEx, with a Penrite Racing Supercar also on display, with Walkinshaw Andretti United drivers Chaz Mostert and Ryan Wood making an appearance.

Waters' second NASCAR race will get underway in Kansas at 10:00am AEST on Sunday morning, with the race to be broadcast live on Fox Sports and streamed on Kayo.

The Tickford star will resume his Supercars campaign in Perth on May 17-19. Tickets for the event are on sale now.
